At last!
Hi there, I've finally got some good news to share with all my forum friends...After 22 years of waiting, watching and failing miserably to save up enough money for a Metro,I'm now the proud owner of a Clubman 6r4! Of course, nothing is ever simple where me and Metros are concerned, and I've had to look abroad for an affordable car but I'm confident that I've finally found the right car for my limited budget. It's a 3 litre Clubman car, very original and very well preserved by the original owner who has clearly cherished it. The car has never been road registered, either here or in the USA where it has lived since export in 1986. The only modifications to have been carried out are the essential V64V reliability mods, plus the fitment of tarmac suspension and Dymags. Many, many thanks to everyone who has helped and supported me during my long search for a Mighty Metro. I've still to arrange shipping,so it'll be a while before the the car arrives back in Britain but I hope to have it available for the 6R4 gathering in Bournemouth next February. Very best wishes to all,and I hope to meet up with as many fellow 6r4 enthusiasts as possible when the show season starts. Gary.

clubman variants are those modern ones designed mostly for tarmac events arent they?

Hi Brataccas, Clubman 6r4s are the 200 "standard" production cars built for homologation into Group B. You might have seen the pics of the compound at Cowley where all the 6r4s were parked up as they rolled off the production line in late 1985...200 identical ermine white cars...they are Clubman 6r4s,as opposed to the handful of International cars which were built to full Works spec. The later variants I think you're referring to are TPR 4100s or DAM 4100s and are rounder in shape. They were developed for tarmac competition by Tony Pond Racing/Dave Appleby Motorsport and have different dimensions and lightweight bodyshells. All the best, Gary :)
