B979 YTC Mark Jasper
Does anybody know the previous history of this car / bodyshell? It has always been one that I have found hard to place. Any assistance would be gratefully appreciated. Many thanks.

All I know is that is was built from a clubman shell, but I will ask Mark David for you

Captain Chaos- 01-06-2008

Thanks Mark. The Reg No B979 YTC hasn't been rallied by anybody else as far as I can tell, so that would back up your thoughts that it is based on a Clubman bodyshell. Be interested to hear what he has to say.

thats a DAM built car originally, with lightweight panels, completely changed now, and i believe its having some trick bits put in it, very soon

Metro 6R4 Online News- 01-07-2008

It certainly is having a full rebuild with up specced bits added and should be ready for North West Stages It is an Appleby built car originally

Captain Chaos- 01-07-2008

OK chaps, but what about the pre-Appleby history?

Metro 6R4 Online News- 01-08-2008

David, got this from Don who co drives for Mark mark, yes it was built from a shell but will need to ask mark on the detail on numbers history etc, will see what i can put together for you

I think you might find that the shell was one of six DAM built shells from a kit of the last stock of fabricated parts from ARG (Bogie has one (Blue Car) Jaspers, Simon Gudgeon(Ex Stone), David Soulsbys (Ex McRae)and I think one of the Cooper Cars had one, not sure if the other one has been built into a car ...yet) These shells could be identified by their very poor fit of the windscreen and where usually not very square in terms of chassis measurements. But I doubt if the 'masterbaker' knows anything about 'his' shell PS - I think you'll find the log book isn't an original 6r4 on either

Metro 6R4 Online News- 01-08-2008

No I guessed that from the B-Plate Some of the DAM shells where in with the deal when TAL took over DAM 6R4 side of the business. I had a good look at some of these shells when at TAL about 3 ish years ago when down there with Ken Hall buying bits for his car

Thanks Mark - any numbers off Mark Jasper's car would be appreciated. Thanks 'interestedspec' - were these the last shells sold by Rover when they auctioned the parts to clear out the old motorsport unit at Cowley? I think it was late 1990s or thereabouts. Is John Bogie's blue car the ex-John Indri DAM built car, previously Reg D974 VAM? Any 6R4 with a B registration is likely to be running on an Austin or MG Metro logbook as the cars were actually built after the C registration had been introduced on 1 August 1985.

Is John Bogie's blue car the ex-John Indri DAM built car, previously Reg D974 VAM? Do keep up at the back Chaos ! Indri still has VAM, but it is now a sickening colour of yellow, hes fat, gobby and his car is bloody yellow ! I ask you is there no taste in Essex. As for the Bogie car, another DAM built car originally, but heavily revised by Chris Wood, with a Goodman bastardised engine by Tommy Field, now registered B0 GIE

Captain Chaos- 01-08-2008

Thanks for the clarification 'interestedspec'. I think I assumed it was Indri's old car as it hasn't been seen out for a while, and Bogie's was a similar blue / yellow colour scheme.

Metro 6R4 Online News- 01-08-2008

One of the Bogie cars is with the Gallagher brothers

interestedspec- 01-08-2008

One of the Bogie cars is with the Gallagher brothers Wrong again !!!!!! The 'shell' that the Gallaghers have, John Bogie or any Bogie ever used it in competitive action, he bought that particular car for its engine (which is now in the Blue Car) the original engine from the blue car was sold to (cant remember his name but is now in the ex Simon Gudgeon Car) it had a TPR body kit on it which was taken off and given to Jock Armstrong. Do try to keep up boys its getting boring

I thought it was Keith Bird that did the construction on E99 FLD which Chris Wood used to have
