Bettega Memorial Rallysprint 1985
Hello, here is one for the SERIOUS :wink: historians: Amongst a lot of rally plates recently acquired, there is a 1985 Bettega Memorial event plate decal as carried by all cars participated in the event. I know that Tony Pond was at this event driving a 6R4 and eliminated Biasion in the quarter finals driving a Jolly Club Totip 037. Biasion was 7th at the end of the event. Question 1: Where did Pond finish?... Question 2: Which car was he driving?... Question 3: Was there other 6R4's at the event, if so, which cars and which drivers?...

I think i have some of that info somewhere Ill try and have a look Ali. I think Duez was over aswell in another 6r4. Will let you know.

Well,ALL that info is completely new to me!! :shock: I'll certainly be interested to read the answers to Ali's teaser. By the way,was the event recorded at all? Are copies available from anywhere? All the best, Gary :)

Ali, I seem to remember Pond saying that the car wasnt setup for the event, it was either the suspension setup was wrong or the gearing of the car was wrong for that type of event. Pond didnt win the event He finished 2nd or 3rd, i have a feeling it was more likely to be 3rd but not 100%

Now that means removing it from my new 6R4 album now lol I will get round to it later Nice proper B/W A4 sized pic too

Yes, I did. I do have a clubbie for sale. There are a number of people interested in it to build a top jolly car with it but no-one has parted with any money so far. It is a very clean, low milage car but as it is not all together, ie although I have all the bits, it needs screwing back together again. So it is best suited to someone as a base car as they can take only the bits they require and not the bits they don't. OR, since I have not got the time to screw it back together, perhaps one of the friendly specialists could do the job for the prospective buyer, to suit their specifications...
