Hi guys, I've had to contact Rick this evening to advise him that my Metro might not be available for the Sunseeker. The la-*test*-('") news from the US shipping agents is that although the car is on it's way,it's estimated arrival date may make Bournemouth a non-starter. I've still got my fingers crossed, but with unloading and Customs clearance estimated to take another 4-6 days,it's far too close to call. On the plus side, the port of arrival has now been changed to Southampton, which would be very handy if the car is cleared just in time for the rally...I could pick it up on my way to Bournemouth! I'd really love to see my car on display alongside all these other Mighty Metros, and I'll certainly be coming down to the event anyway. The entry list is looking ever more impressive so I'm pretty sure I'll be able to console myself with plenty of drooling if no.217's not ready to make it's debut. Best wishes to all, Gary :)

Captain Chaos- 01-31-2008

Glad it's on it's way Gary, and you never know it just might all work out perfectly timed in the end. Fingers crossed for you mate, fingers crossed! Return of the Mac, eh?

GaryH- 01-31-2008

Cheers Cap'n! :) It's such a relief to know that the little fella is on the move and I'm really grateful to the previous owner for transporting the car all the way to the port for me - what a star! In an ideal world,I'd have loved to have had time to prepare the Metro properly for the Sunseeker - you know, washing and polishing it,taking all the "don't push here" stickers off it etc, etc. It will even need a bit of rebuilding as the front aerofoil has been removed to keep it out of harm's way during transportation. But if it makes the difference between getting the car to the Sunseeker and not,I'll happily bring it along in pieces and covered in muck! What do you reckon to Macca returning? I'm sure he'll be a hit with the fans (at least while things are going well) and I wish him every success, but he's hardly the most experienced manager around. Perhaps Eddie Gray to guide him? All the best, Gary :)

Captain Chaos- 01-31-2008

Bring the beast as it is Gary - it'll be a informative to see it in it's original state, and then be able to look back in a few months time in comparison to what it will look like then. Well I think so anyway... Off topic... Macca will do the job I'm sure - a fans favourite as well. Eddie Gray looking over his shoulder will be helpful I agree. We haven't played the same since Poyet left, and I think I mentioned I was worried about where the actual input was coming from at the time! Despite me and a great many others warming to Wise since he started, he was never right for us, and I'm glad the @*%$# has gone! I see we signed Lubo from Bolton today, striker Anthony Elding from Stockport (26 goals from 52 games!), Leicester City defender Alan Sheehan and Darren Kenton as well. 16 minutes till transfer window closes - let's hope we can keep hold of Becks eh? I thought Wise might have snapped him for Newcastle? Sorry guys back on topic... Rallye Suunseeker is going to be ace and to be honest I cannot wait! I wonder how many 6R4s we'll actually get on the day?

6r4nicky- 02-01-2008

Gary, Glad to hear the car is now on its way back home. Still got everything crossed that it will be ready in time for bournemouth. If the car is ready for sunseeker, im sure we would be able to give it a clean on the saturday morning if you wanted? Speak shortly mate :)

Just noticed this video on youtube from somerly park. I have been to that stage before although it was back in 2000 when John price was competing on the event. I walked down a little to a hairpin right which the metro's sounded bloody awesome when they put their foot on the accelerator. I would have thought that the 6R4's would be displayed behind the crowd oposite the the chap filming this. At least the commentator knows what he is talking about when Larbey comes through aswell, which makes a nice change! :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSEqsRQ67BA

Just noticed Duncan Holder is also on the list now in A16 PLR :D We'll have to check the things that 6R4s was onabout with this one captain  Is Mike Kitt, the owner of C870 EUD?

RogerRally- 02-03-2008

Whats the deal on passengers on the demo stage, organisers provide a few local celebs, or can we take out family and friends. 1 run each for the whole day, or open all day at any time that suites. tarmac or forest around the country house? if its raining and muddy, can we still enter the concourse competition? Spot lights on for friday night, and will the seafront stage be run before or after the main event? I asked mike garton an few questions and he just replied thay you cant used trailers between stages, so busy trying getting insurance, mot, tax disk etc at the moment! Wheres everyone staying on Friday night?, might make a good boozeup if we all stayed in the same hotel/ pub etc Im with the Cannock camp

6r4nicky- 02-04-2008

Im afraid I cant help out on most of the questions Roger but I know that according to the event website that the 6R4 demo run on the friday night is before the main event, although im sure you would be best getting the lamp pod on. Also as far as I know the demo runs are all on tarmac. The tarmac section isnt that long on the somerly stage either from what i have read. Also its just 1 run on the friday night and 1 run on the saturday aswell. I dont know where I'm staying at the moment but I'm sure we will all meet up afteron hte saturday as I think a few of us are staying on the saturday aswell. Will be good to meet up again Roger. Hows the car running now on motec?
