Monteberg Rallysprint
News from 12/3/07 There could well be upto 6 Metro 6R4's con-*test*-('")ing this years Monteberg Rallysprint on May 6th in Belgium. they incude Chris Tilly, Simon Gudgeon In the ex John Stone car, John Indri, Ali Serpen, Roger Binyon and Ken Hall, more details will be on here when the entries are fully confirmed.

Sounds good that so many metro crews are going over for the event. My mate Nathan Crewe is going aswell in his super1400 MG ZR. Shame i cant go to it as it would have been good to have put the incar camera in for the event.

Nicky if there is the sligh-*test*-('") chance you can go then do it mate as you will love the event

I've just had mine back in two weeks. Not bad really 'cos - A) My head was too big for the photos and I had to have about 5 sets of phots taken ! B) My old one had run out and I have to travel abroad for work ! Will be sad to see the back of the old one though - have travelled to some really exotic places in last 10 years and collected some cool stamps and Visas. Garreth

I havent had a passport before and would need to have an interview to make sure its me lol. I will have a look into this a little more now. How much does it roughly cost to get over there? Any ideas on costs would be great :)

If you can get in with Nathan Crewe then that would be good as Allsports do a deal with car van and trailer and 9 people for £145 for the ferry then accomodation is cheap ish email Daihiggs@aol.com and he might be able to sort you out a deal to go as its one event you should watch. Like I said I am working on getting over there with another team but then theres always Jersey to fall back on as this is another mint event for the fun factor

Bad news for the rallysprint. 6r4's, Darrians and experimental cars are not allowed to compete in the main event. They will only be allowed as demo's. Can't see many agreeing to that. Austin

It was the same last year.... I got a "Monteberg Challange Demo Run" Cup and times were not mentioned on the results sheets....

Was it true that the metro crews were only notified about the demo runs only just before the event started? Or did you know when you put the entry in that it was only demo runs you were doing? Bit of a shame as i can see a few people not doing it now :(

I remember Ali running as demo last year and there was talk for this year to run demos which has now been confirmed Ken Hall has pulled out of this years event due to this

Yes, absolutely. We didn't know until we got there... However, I must say that it is an excellent event - wheather permitting!...

News from 18/3/07 *LATEST* -------- In the light of the story below it has been confirmed that Chris Tilly and Simon Gudgeon will still take their 6R4's to the Monteberg Sprint despite them having to run as a Demonstration entry, Tilly said "Simon G and I may use it to have a bit of sport and do some set up work. its a good weekend..not really fussed about results" The organisers of the Monteberg Rallysprint have said that any cars like the Metro 6R4's and Darrians will haveto run in a demonstration run and not for overall honours, no doubt drivers of such cars including Ken Hall in his new car will not be making the trek to Dranouter now as its not worth going over just to do demonstration runs with the car. Hall will now concentrate on his Northern Sports and Saloons campaign here n Britain. Ali Serpen wasn't sure either about making the Journey in his B-Sport 6R4Parts.com machine
