Come on somebody tell me, i have got to ask. curiosity has got the better of me,
What the hell is an international wheelstud ?
And dont say its for holding your wheels on, I presume there are problems with "standard" studs and they are different ?
leecarter- 03-30-2008
rogue
the normal wheel studs break/crack in competition so do the new international wheelstud so we have to replace at regular intervals so the wheels dont fall off
hope this helps

Thanks for info lee.
I find that very bad, a wheel stud that cant last ?
There is something wrong there then.
Either the stud aint thick enough in the first place or they are just not made out of the right stuff. or something.
Yes i know i havent got an original car, but ive been racing off road for 25yrs and we never have that problem, and surley our wheel studs get far more abuse, bigger wheels gives more leverage on the stud, heavier wheels, heavier cars, rougher terrain, more jumping and landing.
You might think i am talking a lot of rubbish, but to me there is something wrong that should be able to cured.
We used to break sector shafts and we cured it, then diffs, then half shafts, all sorted now, but a wheel stud ?
there has to be more to this tale surley.
6r4nicky- 03-30-2008
To be honest Rogue I dont think your talking rubbish. Makes sense to me although Im not that good mechanically lol
leecarter- 03-31-2008
nothing wrong rogue, nature of the sport we are in they call it preventative maintainance
so what car do you race off road...........the forces in tarmac rallying are often harder on transmission brakes etc than on loose surface were the body shell takes the hammering and less so on transmission brakes etc

Still cant get my head round the wheel stud thing.
Shouldnt have to change studs on some sort of regular basis, but if thats what you have to do ?
I now run a self built 6R4. (copy), Full space frame, all fibreglass body, 4 wheel drive, double wishbones all round, M3 engine. sequential box.
