Metro 6R4 Online News- 05-16-2008

Have they won a day out or something?

Captain Chaos- 05-16-2008

We have indeed Mark - Sunday 25 May to be precise. ;)

GaryH- 05-17-2008

Hi Mark, We've won more than just a day out....I hope! We've won the chance of a passport out of League 1,with only Doncaster Rovers standing in our way. I don't want to get too carried away at this stage, though, because the painful memory of our last appearance in a play-off final still haunts me! A long, slow journey to the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff was followed by probably the worst performance by a footie team since...errr...the last time Leeds United were in a cup final, way back in 1996! Good luck with your quest for tickets,Dave...if I hear of any opportunities,I'll be sure to let you know. Take care all, Gary :)

There might be a 3rd car displaying at chatsworth, a replica. But I would like the displaying to be as much a social chat and get together as displaying your pride and joy, regardless of what engine it runs etc. Not long now. noticed that there are some of the s2000 rally cars including the MG so will have a look round them too! Also found out that the chap with the D reg clubman from last year is returning, so will be good to see that again.

Metro 6R4 Online News- 05-30-2008

Looks like I wont be there as I have been asked to service at Weeton, and there will be three 6R4's out competing

Sorry to hear that you wont be there Mark :( After speaking to Jonathan Rennison the other day he got Jeff Williamson to contact me. He is now going to be displaying his clubman 6R4 next weekend aswell :D Current List GaryH (clubman 6r4) Jonathan Rennison (clubman 6r4) Jeff Williamson (clubman 6r4) Dave Dixon (6r4 replica)

I'll stick some info on my site later Nicky for you if you can send details

GaryH- 06-01-2008

Great news,Nicky :D Things are certainly looking very good, and I'm so glad all your hard work is paying dividends. As well as the 4 cars,we might just have a couple of very special visitors to the 6R4.net display - all being well. If so,it should give us a good photo opportunity. Thanks again for everything, Gary :)

6r4nicky- 06-06-2008

Metro 6R4 Online News- 06-08-2008

Hope you had a good un Nicky and well done for getting it together mate

6r4nicky- 06-08-2008

Hope you had a good un Nicky and well done for getting it together mate Many thanks mate, the display was a huge success!! We only had 2 cars in the end as the only way Jeff Williamson could get his car from the main service area to the club display would have been by driving it on the road round to the other car park entrance. The car didnt have any mot on it so Jeff had to keep it in the service area with his mini and mk1 escort. Had a little chat with him and was a really nice bloke. Was great to have a chat with Robert who owns the D reg clubman. Love the sound of his project he was telling me, my dad and Gary about. He was certainly entertaining the crowds with the metro on the stage sessions he done, the sound was glorious from where we was on the car club display. He also mentioned how lovely and clean Gary, and Jonathans cars were. The display always had alot of people surrounding the cars, alot of people asking either me, Gary, Jonathan or even mine and jonathans dads info about the cars. Had some people not knowing what they were asking questions and were really impressed with the cars. I reckon we must have had over 1500 people view the display over the 2 days, which is amazing considering we were in with the subaru owners and stratos owners but most people didnt look at their displays, they came straight over to ours!! The other problem was that the car club displays were a little out of the way from 2 of the car parks and most people probably didnt know we was other there. but virtually every person who was coming in from the car park by the club displays came straight over to look at them! Credit to both the owners! Both cars were stunning! Garys looking so tidy and very nice to copare the 2 cars as Gary had the gravel dymag wheels on compared to Jonathan who had his tarmac dymags on. Jonathans was so gorgeous, he has done so much to the car since he bought it and has given it alot of TLC since he has had it from the previous owner. Many thanks to the people off here and other forums who came over to say hello! It was really nice to put some faces to names, and have a good chat about all things 6R4. Was nice to hear so many of you congratulat me on organising something like this. I was really nervous on the saturday morning driving up incase anything was going wrong but it all pretty much went according to plan. One person I was speaking to was John Marwood who was telling me that he has repainted his 6R4, in the 33 ecport colours as he will be doing the odd slowly sideways events aswell as his rallies he does normally. He will be at the slowly sideways event at silverstone soon so might try and get over to that. I would like to give a HUGE thankyou to Gary, who offerd me the chance to drive his 6R4, round the car display area today. I had Roy (spanners) in the passenger seat and only stalled it once (at the start) even though it was only at 5 10 mph max, it was an unbeliveable feeling, and an experience I will never forget!! Thankyou Gary :D I am tired, aching (alot of walking), and sunburnt to feck! But it was all worth it! I will check over the next couple of weeks about displaying at any other shows this yeark as it has really given me the motivation to do more now! Thankyou Jonathan and Gary for displaying for us. It is really appreciated. I will put some pics up tomorrow afternoon.

Impsport Dan- 06-08-2008

great stuff Nicky.. .glad to hear it went well! Sorry I couldn't make it in the end Dan

GaryH- 06-08-2008

Hi Nicky, Thanks so much for making this weekend's event possible - we all had a wonderful time and it was great to meet up with so many fellow enthusiasts and fans. We're also worn out and sunburnt but the display was so worth it!! The Metro's popularity really is astounding, the 6R4 chats were fascinating and there are clearly some little gems hidden away in people's garages! On our journey back to Leeds,we stopped briefly at the motorway service station, just to ensure all the ratchet straps were securely attached to the trailer, and it was amazing to see the swarm of folk immediately head toward the car, cameras in hand. Some guys were also on their way home from Chatsworth and seized another opportunity to see the car up close, while others had been at Silverstone or Santa Pod and were eager to grab some snaps of the car. The interest the car attracts is simply amazing! I'm glad you enjoyed your drive - if ever a guy deserved to be handed the keys to a 6r4,it's you. Many thanks again for all your hard work, and for giving us a weekend to remember. All the best, Gary :)

6r4nicky- 06-09-2008

Thankyou for the kind words Gary, im really glad you and your family enjoyed themselves. I have already contacted the organisors of another event about a 6r4.net dispay, watch this space

Captain Chaos- 06-11-2008

Congratulations Nicky on organising your very first 6R4.net display. No matter how much worry you went through leading up to the event, I can guarantee that the kind words of congratulations that you received, and the crowds of intrigued enthusiasts around the cars, made it all worth every ounce of effort spent beforehand. It was nice to meet you again, and Gary and Jonathan for the first time - nice to put faces to names chaps - but I must apologise for not getting a chance to come back and see you later on Saturday as originally planned. Like all these things, time goes so quickly. One of my objectives was getting a few items of memorabilia signed by a few of the drivers, and that is all I really seemed to do during the afternoon. Apologies again for not finding the time to come back over to you all. Gary & Jonathan - top marks on bringing along an immaculate pair of Metros for the rally world to wonder at - reports in Motorsport News today reckoned 22,000 over the course of the two days! By the looks of the photos posted on the other thread, I'd say you saw every one of those 22,000! Looking forward to meeting you all agin soon, and deffo retuurning to Chatsworth for next year's Rally Show. Well done Nicky!
