Was looking on the Sunseeker site so this is how i found you!.I have tried for a long time to get hold of a copy (the series) of the Winning Streak, but to no avail. I used to service for Dave Appleby all through the 6R4 days, and the TPR's/DAM's,so ive really enjoyed going through your forum. Anyway back to my question, does anyone know where i can get hold of the Winning Streak, tape or DVD,have even tried tv company, but no luck. Thanks in advance for any help. :)

I bought a set off Ebay - no idea what I did with them though. I'll have a scout round - if I find them you can have em. Garreth.

Although I am more than happy if you still want them on dvd to copy it for you. Are you going to be at the sunseeker? Strangely enough a week or two back we had another old tpr/dam mechanic join up. How many members of staff did dam/tpr have?

Captain Chaos- 01-24-2008

They could almost warrant a dedicated forum Nicky - just for ex-TPR / DAM employees!

I have lots of fond memories of that series - mainly because of the Escort,Quattro and 6R4 - but also because it was filmed at locations so close to home for me. Radio Wharfe was really Radio Aire (right next door to the Yorkshire TV studios),Savage Motors was Appleyards in Bradford and one of the supposed service halts on the National Breakdown was filmed at my beloved Elland Road Football Ground. I did also really fancy the lass who played David Savage's long-suffering wife... In 1993,I was an extra in a YTV film called Stalag Luft which starred Benedick Blythe, and I was itching to ask him about his experiences with the prototype Metro but never got the chance. It was interesting to note how many of the YTV crew has Ternco Oils stickers on their briefcases, toolboxes, sandwich boxes etc...they must have printed hundreds of spares! I wonder if that mock-up 6R4 from the Heritage Museum ever sold? All the best, Gary.

Wonder where he is now Benedick What did you play Gary in Stalag Luft

Hi Mark, I was only an extra, but I did get a brief taste of real acting when I was chosen to take part in a scene with Stephen Fry and a couple of the other "stars". At this point in the film I was dressed as a 2nd World War German guard, even though I was actually a British POW (I know,I know...but it's a long story!) and I had to react to Mr Fry's yelled orders and drag one of the characters out of his seat and out of the room! T'was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed my time on set. For the rest of the film I was just milling about in the background, pretending to smoke a ciggy! Well,it beat working for a living! I loved my time as an extra for YTV and only packed it in when BT started getting a bit frustrated at the amount of short-notice leave I wanted! I was always a policeman or a soldier and actually had a few real acting scenes in a variety of shows. Sadly, none of which were ever nominated for a BAFTA. I keep threatening to make a compilation tape of all my best on-screen moments for the kids, but it would only last about 30 seconds! Take care, Gary.

Didnt that david savages brother go on to the bill? Being an extra sounds cool Gary, I reckon you should put your best clips on youtube for us all to see

GaryH- 01-26-2008

I might just do that,Nicky...you have been warned!! More embarrasing by far was my appearance as a con-*test*-('")ant on a 1990's gameshow, but sadly that tape has been burn...errr....lost! :D Extra-ing is great fun and highly lucrative,too...I'd recommend it to anyone. Take care, Gary.

What gameshow was that Gary? Not supermarket sweep I hope
