Whats your favourite 6R4 of all time?
Although we all love every single one of the them, there is always 1 that makes it that little more special than the rest. So as the title says really, which is your favourite 6R4? Could it be Pondy's 85 RAC car for finishing 3rd place on its WRC debut? David Llewellin's 86 Circuit Of Ireland winning car, as it was the first international victory for the car. Or how about John Stones Hammy for example, kept in mint conidition regardless of cost and was used on lurgan park in 91 by Tony Pond to win the event. Please put a reason as to why the certain vehicle is your favourite. Right then, mine would have to be Jim Carty's aberfeldy coaches sky blue car. Purely because it was the first time I had ever seen a 6R4. I watched the 6r4 on videos my uncle had and instantly loved them. We used to only go to the rally gb back in the mid to late 90's and the odd brc round. I went with him on the scottish in 99 and when looking at the entry list for the national rally noticed there was 3 6r4's :D they were Andy Horne, Jon Burn and of course Jim Carty. We actually saw Jims car the day before the scottish national rally as we was going just past the scrutineering and followed Jim back to a shell garage. I couldnt believe the sound of the thing at a steady 2,500 rpm but the best was yet to come. There it was parked up at the shell station doing bits of work on it, so there i was taking a look inside and all round, I was just so excited to have seen one in the flesh. Then he got in the car, started it up and slowly drove off, so I walked back to the car really chuffed to pieces to have had a closeup on one. Then, all of a sudden there was this almighty roar, yep it was Jim coming back down the main road. I couldnt believe how bloody gorgeous it sounded. He indicated back into the shell garage and drove round to the hotel to park it up for the night. Seeing and hearing Jims car with the other 6R4's of Horne and Burn the day after definately got my bug for the 6r4 even more.

Colin Malkin Ternco(Winning Streak car) from the 84 Welsh, even though I dont remember it I was there(only 1 year a month and about 20 days old). So its probably because of that car I love the 6r4s so much. Although I also love any Belga car as the 'scheme is stunning.

Hmmm...good question! I love originality in a car,and so standard Clubman cars always have me drooling. That pic of all the brand new Metros sitting in a compound at Longbridge (?) is a vision of heaven on earth for me!! Of course, the works Metros are also very special to me and I particularly like the "KOG" cars. Pondy's Manx winner is a beauty but I'm particularly keen on C96 KOG for some reason. Perhaps because it's a works car which appears to be in original condition? Either way,my favourite 6R4 is currently C96 KOG.

I'm quite fond of a white clubman car reg E128 FLD - seeing as it actually moved under its own steam (in my presence anyway) for the first time in 18 months yesterday. Full story to follow  Garreth

Not ACTUALLY back yet ! Was at Norris Designs yesterday as they were mapping the Motec unit. Looked like fun - was -2 deg c and mega foggy. Made it a bit difficult to do the power runs ! Bit of a misfire traced to dodgey injector (was a new one so dunno what) and ignition timing. Unable to drive due to knee op but apparently now goes like a ba**rd ! Just the suspension to set up and a few bits and bobs THEN will be coming home. Can't wait............. Garreth PS will be asking father Xmas for some Sunoco Supreme - used 60 litres in no time at all

It is a toss up between RogerRallys bad boy blue car, or Will G's Black/Gold/Red Silkolene ! I must confess, the Golden Wonder car was an eye opener !

For me its Jon Burns Metro 6R4 as when I was spectating on the 2004 (i think) Snowman Rally on SS1 Jon pulled up in front of me to fix a problem in the engine. It was before i was really into Rallying and from then on I always look forward to seeing it out on the stages. Hopefully now Stevie Ronaldson will be just as good in it as Jon was :D :D
