I would have thought that driving anything thats virtually as wide as it is long at 80mph on gravel would be "interesting" !.

I thought (may be wrongly) that the original 6r4 was 96 wheel base ?.
and of a similar track width. mine probably 2"wider.
Or am i talking the proverbial bollox.
Thats why i was wondering what settings the original cars ran, surley they must have had similar problems.
garreth- 02-24-2008
I think they probably did !
However they will have had a lower centre of gravity due to lower ride height and stiffer / shorter travel suspension. Maybe this is part of the problem ?
Either way your car looks great - a real credit to you. I bet its bags of fun !!!!!

thank you,
it took 3yrs to build, from idea to sat on start line,
began life as a pile of tube on the floor, make a metro shell, make a space frame to fit inside it, think design and make everything you need, suspension, steering, wishbones etc. fit engine/gearbox/transfer box, eventualy it all gets done
Yes its loads of fun to drive. The noise in the cab is deafening, makes you feel sick if you go up the road without ear defenders on (yes its road legal)
acceleration is fairly good as i only have it geared to 112mph, and i am thinking of gearing it down to 102 as thats about what speed i get up to.
i am realy suprised though that with all these fanatics on this site that know one knows what settings the works cars used to run. very suprised,
(or do i have to go through some secret ritual before special info can be divulged to me and my alegiance sworn to the chairman of BL)

OK as no one can seem to answer my previous question, How about this one.
As gareth said, original 6r4 is lower than mine. so how tall do they sit, what do they measure from the ground to the roof in forrest spec and how much wheel travel do/did they have.
Can someone please tell me.

No idea on a forest spec car I'm afraid.
Hopefully someone can help out.

I would think it all depends on the events as rally suspension settings will be different to the off road stuff wouldnt it
Is there any chance you could -*test*-('") the car for a day anywhere and play around with the settings so you can find a difference over the same stretch of track you -*test*-('") on.
do one or two runs change the suspension, do others and change the gearing if possible
Just a thought

Looking at your car, I remember the other spaceframe Metro special
wonder where that is now
where can I find info on the Tout Terrain series in France
rogue- 02-24-2008
Ive been doing that for the past 2 seasons. The car is far better now than ever, but still giddy at high speed,
I was wondering what works cars run as a comparison, im not after copying the settings, i know they wouldnt work on mine, but they would be good as a bench mark.
rogue- 02-24-2008
Other space frame special, the only other i know of was ivan dudley, but that mainley ran in france.
For french tout terrain. go to google and put in "passion TT"
rogue- 02-24-2008
if you want french racing, go to youtube and type in fouquet...
then look at fouquet v12 buggy
will run tingles down tour spine,

Thats your man
I have some good pics and video somewhere of that car

Ivan sold it to the man at alisport, he didnt do a rite lot in it, it got sold on again but dont know where, that was on a steel shell with a rover v8 in it.
Ivan ie sposed to be on with building another one, should be well on with it by now i would have thought, this time he is going for an m3 engine like in mine.
