The mini is english. built by kieth banyard, had is own engine made, called it a cyclone v8, its 2 motorbike engines grafted together, sposed to rev like hell.
This is the french version of off road racing. The french authorities are more motorsport friendly, not like over here, britain is very much against it on the whole.

I seen a small pic of it in a mini mag and wondered where it was from
Thanks for that

Its suprising what we can all get to learn and find out if we all talked to each other.
there is a lot going on in the motorsport world.
Sparkplug- 02-26-2008
I went that show in 2006 (i think) was very good.
i will try to put some pics on for you, although i aint very good on the comp. You will notice i dont run a front spoiler, (i have it, painted to match) just couldnt run it on our events as it wouldnt last 2 min.
we might do a 10 mile stage, 8 mile could be on cat 1 tracks, 2 mle on rough fire breaks.
i have 12" of travel on the front and 10" on the rear (dont know what a real 6r4 has).
230mm travel on rear, 220mm on the front, 3-way Proflex Tarmac Spec.
rogue- 02-26-2008
Thanks sparkplug,
I didnt realise that they had so much travel.
thats 9 1/2" rear and 8 3/4" front in english (i still cant work in metric).
Presumably it must be mainly droop travel on tarmac and more bump travel for forest/gravel spec ?
Thanks again, anything else you can think of that would help point me in the right direction would be appreciated.
I run 12 deg castor on the front, 1.5 deg neg camber and .5 deg toe in.
On the rear 1.8 deg neg camber, 1 deg toe in.

Hi,
From first glance it may appear that the high speed fishtailing could be due to an imbalance of castor settings.
Too much castor on the front and not enough at the rear.
An increase in castor provides high speed stability.
Hope this helps
Cheers
Ian

Thanks Ian, I run zero castor at the rear, i wasnt aware that its needed, but i will see what i can do.
Also, have you ever heard of problems running an LSD front and rear, in all my previous cars i have ran a free diff up front (4 pin) and a welded diff in the back (our version of what i think you lads call a spool diff) locked solid. but that was always on axle cars. With that set up they are realy good, very stable and plenty of predictable traction.
But for some reason i had decided that an independant wouldnt like a welded diff, i dont know why i thought that, just my logic.
thanks again..

HI Phil,
I too am not a big fan of welded diffs.
We use plate type LSD's front and rear with good handling.
However, the LSD at the Front is weaker than the rear.
Cheers

Hi ian.
My diffs are BMW, 25% lock up on standard ramp angles. I had thought of shimming the rear one up to be virtualy locked and backing the front one off.
I had wondered if the front diff tends to pull the car, but i am fairly convinced that the problem lies in the short wheel base and must be cureable with geometry settings, i hope.

Hi Phil,
All sounds sensible to me.
I think the castor on the rear is the cure.
Let me know how you get on.
Cheers
Ian
rogue- 03-06-2008
Well ive checked into it, and as far as i can find out you do not run or need castor on the rear as it doesnt do anything (except alter bumpsteer)
and i have zero bump steer front and rear.
When i first built it i went to great trouble to eliminate bumpsteer, i struggled at the time but managed it in the end.
Ackerman angle is good too.
So back to square one ?
