Winning Streak 6R4 replica
Just found this on ebay its the 1.3 motor they used for shows and used it the tv show the winning streak but not for the moving shots as its only got a 1.3 and its fwd. It would be great to see someone buy it and put 6r4 running gear in it. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MG-METRO-6R4-Replica_W0QQitemZ300174000739QQihZ020QQcategoryZ29757QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Hi Nicky, Personally,I think this car is very interesting! OK,it's basically a standard Metro as far as running gear goes but that body kit looks genuine prototype 6R4 to me. Surely,ARG Motorsport have had some input into this car to make it such an accurate external replica and that makes it part of the 6R4's history in my book. The big transmission tunnel looks authentic, too. Does anyone know any more about the origins of the car? I hope it finds a good home. All the best, Gary.

The car for sale is the one that was at Gaydon for a few years along side the red prototype 6r4 from what i can make out. I think that ARG would have made the car purely for the filming of the winning streak, I know that ford do exactly the same with the wrc cars tehy have had in showrooms in the past, all bodywork is of a wrc car and internally too. But under the bonnet is a 2 litre duratec lol. I just hope that no boy racer buys it as it is a big part of the 6r4s history in my opinion and would be great to see it have a v64v installed or even the jag v6 like Ian Rowlance has put in his metros. I might see if i can see the bank manager

Might be tempted on this

Well, good luck to either of you guys if you do decide to go for it. If I wasn't currently in more debt than some 3rd World countries I'd certainly have been bidding for this slice of 6R4 history. Not only does the tunnel look well fabricated, but the rear roll cage looks very much like the design adopted for the production 6R4s. And is that a rear suspension turret on view? Are these features just for illusion or are they structural mods? It might be worth finding out more from the seller. I remember having a look round this very car,way back in 1985 when it was on show at an Austin Rover dealership open day in Horsforth,Leeds. I was convinced that the car was the genuine Metro 6R4 from The Winning Streak until I poked my inquisitive Kevin Keegan-style permed noggin under the front of the car and saw that unmistakable ribbed cast alloy A-series gearbox casing staring back at me! I wonder if I've still got the photos? A very interesting car indeed! All the best, Gary.

I would like to put a K-Series motor in it and see what it does

If someone bought it and put wings and a decent interior and new running gear it will be fleet but it looks like its worthy of a skip that cond. its in now.... :(
