Zeus Block comments on 6r4.info For clarification, Zeuss and the A&M blocks are exactly the same in terms of their castings.
They are from the same moulds. There is no "development" or "additional strengthening where needed" on the Zeuss 6R4 blocks.- They are EXACTLY the same.
The difference comes from the quality of the casting. The A&M blocks suffer quite badly from the "aerobar" effect, they are quite porous.
The Zeuss blocks are much better in this respect.
Furthermore, there were only 6 castings that were machined by Goodmans. - (I had 2 of them) These are the good ones with alot more meat left on the main bearing areas and machined correctly. The rest that were machined (and there were 5) were done out of line with wafer thin water channel walls and I would not touch these blocks.
The best 2.5 engine out there without a doubt is the engine in JP's own car.
It was built for me by Goodmans, I sold it to Ken Colbert and JP bought it from him.
It is a short stroke 2.5 and the heads were machined out of bare castings by Goodmans with unique valve angles to enable the use of bigger valves than any other metro head.
It has the ability to rev to its maximum without any tailing off of power. In this respect, it is unique and he will not be selling that in a hurry....
Now to the subject of the additional strenghtening: This is a completely different item. They are the Jaguar JV6 blocks. They are also cast by Zeuss.
There are only 4 of these with proper 6R4 starter motor and bellhousing sections.
One is run by Lawrence Gibson, Martin harrison has one on the shelf and I have 2 on the shelf.

Yes, it was at the show as a show case of what could be done.
It is currently used as a demo car for prospective customers who are interested in the experience of complete built cars, engines, set up and modifications.
The car would be sold if anybody seriously wanted it.
John would then build another one for himself using one of our club cars.

What a stunner.... go on tempt us all... what is John price looking for??
B-Sport- 12-02-2006
Wires crossed there I think The car Belongs Goddman racing, John Manklow. To replace the car would cost 80K I think.
Impsport Dan- 12-02-2006
I realise it isnt actually for sale.. but was just interested in what it would cost.
I take it it's a pretty special car... aswell as being in perfect condition??

Ali - excellent info.
JP's car is still for sale - hoped to have a look at it last Wednesday. But unsure about the running costs of a 2.5 for trackday use.
Can I paste in the ZEUS info on the JP car thread?

Jerry/Ali
Is a 2.5 more exepensive to run? and if so why?
